Editor’s note: Although belated, wishing you all a Healthy and Happy New Year.

It doesn’t seem possible that we are already into the third month of the year.

January meeting – we were entertained by the Morris Ladies from Ely, they gave an interesting talk on the origins of Morris Dancing with various displays. Some of our younger Members even joined in.

In January we were surprised to receive a letter & cheque for £74 from a 9 year old lad : Leo Cooper. He had done a project at school about WW1 and had talked to his great nan about this, and she happens to be our longest serving & oldest member at 97 : Mrs Wimmie Weedon. When his school then did a fete at Christmas he suggested that any monies raised should come to Chatteris WS because his great nan was a member. We are extremely grateful to this young man for his thoughtfulness.

February meeting – was to have been a Fish & Chip supper, but after a vote in January it was agreed to change to Sausage & Mash Supper. This was very well received and will stay as an annual event.

The Standard has been busy again with the WW1 Remembers services and two funerals.

We are delighted that the Ladies from Sutton have now joined us from the holding branch, and we thank them for their continued support.

March meeting – we held our annual Birthday party with in excess of 90 guests attending. We are grateful for the support we received from the Branches of Guyhirn, St Ives, Warboys, Ramsey, Manea & March at this event. Also, not forgetting our own Members.

National Conference 14th – 16th April – this year being held in Bournemouth. Janice will be taking our Standard and Anne will be attending as Delegate. We are busy preparing for this as we will again have a stall to raise funds selling a variety of goods : bars of chocolate, sweets, recipe book, and quiz booklet. New for this year is our very own Teddy Bear mascot, hand knitted in Legion colours of yellow & blue.

When we return from Conference it will be full steam ahead for a very busy summer of festivals & fund raising.
